Oranda Stone Jewellery Is made to last a lifetime
Each piece you buy adds to your very own Treasure Trove.
With care these pieces will always look their best.

What materials do I use?

 Sterling Silver

Most pieces are made from recycled sterling silver 925. This means it has a minimum of 92.5% silver with the other 7.5% being alloys to increase its durability. They are stamped with my makers mark and hallmarked at the London Assay Office when they above the legal weight threshold.

Sterling Silver and Gold Vermeil

Whistle gold vermeil is similar to gold plating it has quite a few key differences, the 18ct gold is applied to sterling silver. By law, gold vermeils require a thicker layer of plating, due to this gold vermeil makes for a durable option for jewellery and with the right care, it will last many years. They are stamped with my makers mark and hallmarked at the London Assay Office when they above the legal weight threshold.

9ct/18ct Gold
Pieces can be made in recycled 9ct or 18ct gold on request, please contact me here if you have seen a design you would like made in solid gold. All solid gold pieces stamped with my makers mark and hallmarked at the London Assay Office.

I use both semi-precious & precious gemstones for Oranda Stone, I'm committed to ensuring that both the stones and metals I use are responsibly sourced.

What does 'vermeil' mean?
Vermeil is gold plated over (recycled) sterling silver jewellery. Plated to the highest standard between 3-5 microns.

How do I look after my jewellery?

As with all metals, special care must be taken to ensure they do not scratch or tarnish. Like me, you’ll want to wear your jewellery 24/7, but be mindful of taking it off before the following:

Contact with liquids and chemicals: Showering, the sea, the pool, cleaning, can all speed up tarnishing.

Exercising: Please take off all jewellery prior to exercise as contact with sweat can speed up tarnishing, plus excessive wear and tear.

Beauty regime: Applying products like lotions, hairspray, perfumes, moisturisers, etc. should all be avoided whilst wearing jewellery.

Storage: Make sure to store pieces separately in pouches or boxes, so that chains do not get tangled and surfaces do not get scratched!

Keep out of direct sunlight ideally keep it in a dark, dry and airtight environment. This is especially important for Silver pieces, as they do tarnish when unworn and exposed to the air.

General wear and tear: All orders come with a polishing cloth use this from time to time to brighten up any dull pieces over time.

Unfortunately, it is really hard to predict exactly what chemicals will interact with your jewellery in a negative way. So the best thing to do is limit the exposure as much as possible, my advice would be to remove your jewellery any time you wash your hands or have a shower, I understand that this is not always practical. When applying a cosmetic/chemicals that will remain on your skin for a while try and make sure to apply and let it dry before putting your jewellery back on. If your jewellery does come into contact with a chemical or cosmetic, make sure to rinse it with water in order to limit the time that any residue is sitting on the surface.

How to Clean You Jewellery

The best way to clean your jewellery at home is with a soft toothbrush, mild dish soap and warm water, will do the trick to keep your treasure bright and sparkly.

Please bear in mind that if you are polishing plated jewellery, make sure to do so gently and infrequently to prevent the surface layer of metal from being scratched or worn away.

Mistakes can happen and wear and tear may happen too! If your piece does need to be professionally re-plated, polished or repaired, drop us an email at contact@moodgood.co.uk to find out about our reconditioning service and get a quote.
